Transgender Beauty Queen to Lead Vancouver Pride

If the name Jenna Talackova doesn’t ring a bell then you’ve been living under a rock for the last several months. Or you don’t follow beauty pageants, which is completely understandable.

The Vancouver-based beauty queen first made international headlines this year after she was disqualified from the Miss Universe Canada pageant for not being a “naturally born female.”

However, Talackova had the last laugh after successfully fighting the Miss Universe organization. Winning the lawsuit and having a change in rules allowed for Talackova to make it into the Top 12 at the Canadian pageant and awarded the title of Miss Congeniality.

Now the transgender beauty queen is set to be one of the three grand marshals – alongside Bill Monroe and posthumously David Holtzman – at this year’s Vancouver gay pride parade taking place Sunday, August 5.

This smells like a reality TV series could be in the works.
