The Vancouver Folk Festival is Your Alternative to Molly and EDM

Sometimes going to an EDM festival and popping molly just doesn’t sound all that appealing. Neither does worrying about heat stroke while attending an all ages Major Lazer concert. Sometimes it’s actually about the music and lazing around appreciating song lyrics. It’s not such a crazy concept!

Skip all of that unwanted crap (dead serious about that all ages thing) at this year’s Vancouver Folk Music Festival, which is taking place July 19 – 21 at Jericho Beach Park. For the 36th edition more than 70 bands are hitting the stage to perform low-key melodies that’ll practically turn you into a sad sack of nothing. Hey, sometimes that’s what we need.

Grammy winning American folk singer Steve Earle is headlining while other acts include Hayden, Hanna Georgas, the Waterboys, the Wooden Sky, Aidan Knight, Kathleen Edwards and Cold Specks, Mo Kenney, the Cat Empire, and many more.

Advance tickets are currently on sale until July 18 and weekend passes are $150 for adults and $90 for students. Tickets are available at the gate but are going to cost more so it’s better to save the extra $15 and buy ahead.
