Most Turnt Up Caribana Events During the 2013 August Long Weekend in Toronto

Technically called Caribbean Carnival Toronto, it’ll always be Caribana to us and it’s going to get effing crazy later this month.

Now in it's 44th year, the biggest Caribbean festival in North America draws people from all over the world to experience the hottest club events, concerts and a massive street party involving about a million people.

The official launch is July 9 and carnival events run until the closing service on Monday, August 12. But the height of the party is always on the August long weekend (August 2 – 5) when the Grand Parade is held.

There’s so much shit going on, it’s up to you how you choose to party. But we’ve narrowed down a few of the wildest August long weekend events during Caribana 2013 in Toronto.

Friday, August 2nd, 2013

Reggae Explosion at Luxy

The Reggae Explosion is happening inside Luxy Entertainment Complex with live performances by Beenie Man and Mr. Vegas. Luxy is north of the city in Vaughan but easy to get to from Highway 400 if you plan on heading up from Toronto.

Kendrick Lamar & Earl Sweatshirt at Sound Academy

Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar and OFWGKTA member Earl Sweatshirt are in the main room for an all ages event at Sound Academy. Ticket pricing is based on access to the General Admission area or the 19+ VIP Balcony and they’re pretty damn expensive.

BIG ASS Caribana Jumpoff at Guvernment

Legendary reggae DJ Tony Matterhorn, official Nicki Minaj DJ Diamond Kutz and Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds plus two special guests are in the house along with over a dozen of Canada’s hottest DJs for the Friday night Caribana kickoff. Party with over 3,000 people in seven rooms of music.

Set it Off at Aria Entertainment Complex

DJ Prostyle of Ciroc and Bod Boy are in the house along with DJ L of 106 & Park and other DJs for three rooms of music with 3,500 partygoers.

Beenie Man at 227 Lounge

In case you missed him at Luxy, Beenie Man is in Etobicoke the following night for a live outdoor performance at 227 Lounge.

Grand Parade

The parade is happening all day from 9am – 6pm along a 3.5km stretch of Lake Shore Blvd. beginning at Exhibition Place. It’s a family-friendly event but always the biggest party during Caribana weekend, drawing millions of spectators and participants from all over the world.

Def Jam Party at Kool Haus

The 12th annual Def Jam Caribana Party is happening inside Guvernment with a very special surprise host. Recent hosts have included Fabolous, Jadakis and Waka Floka so you know this year won’t disappoint. This event is always a complete sellout. Get your tickets before they’re gone.

Annual Caribana White Tie Cruise

The hottest Toronto Caribana party on the water is happening aboard the The Jubilee Queen for an annual white tie affair with the best in soca, reggae, reggaeton, chutney, Latin, Top 40 and more. Enjoy a full seated dinner included in your ticket price. Boarding begins at 7:30pm.

Levels at Gravity Soundbar

Toronto’s hip-hop video king Director X is hosting the parade afterparty along with DJ Drama at Gravity Soundbar, brought to you by Hot 97 and BET.

OhSo Saturdays Caribana Edition

Hot 97’s DJ C-Lo is at OhSo Nightclub for their Caribana party with over 1,000 guests and three floors of music with DJ Loki and DJ Rockstar.

OVO Fest at Molson Amphitheatre

Tickets are long gone for Drake’s 4th annual OVO Fest at Molson Amphitheatre, happening over two nights this year. Co-headliners are Frank Ocean and James Blake. No telling who some of the surprise guests will be this year, but if other events happening in the city are any indication, Kendrick Lamar and Earl Sweatshirt are a good guess.

Fire Fete at Sound Academy

The biggest soca party to close the weekend out is inside Sound Academy at Polson Pier starting at 9pm. The outdoor patio is also open to cool off throughout the evening. Get your tickets before they're gone.
