Oh snap! Hockey’s back and I’m about to run down six awesome Montreal sports bars to watch the Habs play.
There are lots of awesome Habs bars in Montreal where you can always count on cold beers, good food and the company of likeminded hockey fans. From cool pubs to sit with friends to rowdier sports bars with wall-to-wall big screens, there are lots of places to watch hockey in Montreal.
Here’s a few.
If you can’t be at the game, this might be the next-best place to watch it, located right beside the Bell Centre. La Cage is a Quebec-wide sports chain with 52 locations in the province. But when it comes to watching the Habs, this is definitely as close to the action as possible without actually being in the Bell Centre. The two-level bar is equipped with four massive screens and 73 televisions to watch the game.
Peel Pub has been a Montreal institution since 1962 – a place committed to great food, awesome service and showing the latest sporting events on 35 HD plasmas and the massive video wall. The place is awesome if you’re looking to celebrate a Habs win after the game too, with three levels, a heated patio and lots of special events happening all the time.
This place is legendary for its sheer amount of TV’s and different sports playing at any given time throughout all three floors. But during a Habs game, this place is dedicated to hockey, located right on Saint Laurent. There’s even a TV in the men’s washroom to ensure you don’t miss a second of the action while playing a little urinal hockey.
As far as rowdiness goes, Chez Serge might be one of the most rambunctious Canadiens bars in Montreal. If you’re looking for a fun, loud and super-energetic bar to watch the game, you can’t go wrong with this place which has super-big, cheap drinks as well as its own mechanical bull for even more amped up fun.
These guys are already showing all Canadiens preseason games and it’s a great place to watch the Habs in Montreal. Any of the Station des Sports locations are cool, but this place is always popular with UQAM students looking to watch the game.
If you’re looking for more of an old school pub atmosphere, this is a great place to watch Habs games in Montreal. Just be warned that it’s always super-busy during games and was rammed yesterday for the first pre-season game. Get there early if you want a prime spot to watch any of the screens – the place is always packed when hockey’s on.
