5 Places to get a Professional Straight Razor Shave in Toronto

5 Places to get a Professional Straight Razor Shave in Toronto

Remember the beginning of the Twinz music video? Big Pun is getting a straight razor shave but is interrupted by some shit going down. He then gets up midway through with shaving cream still on his face just to go handle some fucking business.

That shit was badass. That can be you.

There’s no more of a gangster feeling than getting a hot straight razor shave, and there are plenty of barbershops in Toronto that have been doing it for years.

Here’s a list of just a handful of barbershops offering super-clean straight razor shaves in Toronto. Of course, this is nowhere near complete.

Professional Straight Razor Shave in Toronto
  • Terminal Barber Shop

    594 Bay Street , Toronto

These guys shaved Woody Harrelson for fuck’s sake – weed smoking, Natural Born Killers Woody Harrelson. Terminal Barber Shop has been on the corner of Bay and Dundas since 1925, even earning the nickname “Boys Club on Bay Street.” Fucking OGs, man.

  • Truefitt & Hill

    161 Bay Street , Toronto

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the original Truefitt & Hill in London is the oldest barbershop in the world, established in 1805. It has since expanded to other cities including Vegas, Chicago, Beijing, and yes, right here in Toronto. It opened in 1995 in the lobby of Scotia Place, repping old school British barbershop culture to the fullest.

  • Crows Nest Barbershop

    35 Kensington Avenue , Toronto

Kensington Market’s Crows Nest is full of younger folk with an old school approach to the barbershop experience. They specialize in haircuts and straight razor shaving services that are a bit pricier than average but probably worth it considering you’ll be the sharpest fuck at the party.

  • Hollow Ground Barber Shop

1053 Bloor Street West , Toronto

Opening in Dovercourt in 2011, Hollow Ground is a classic barbershop that only accepts walk-ins for all haircutting, straight shave, trimming, washing, and head shaving services.

  • Garrison’s by the Park Barbershop

254 Niagara St. Street , Toronto

Garrison’s also opened in 2011 above the White Squirrel Café at Trinity Bellwoods Park. They accept walk-ins and appointments. It’s a little on the pricy side – $40 for shave and $60 for a cut and shave – but it’s well worth it.
